TEPIN
Tepin (Bernstein) was a six-time Grade 1 winner, including a historic victory in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
She showed early promise as a graded stakes winner on dirt as a 2-year-old but became a turf legend during her 4- and 5-year-old campaigns. In 2015, she captured the G2 Distaff Turf Mile at Churchill Downs, the G1 Just a Game at Belmont, and the G1 First Lady at Keeneland before capping off the season with a dominant victory in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile. Her stellar performances earned her the 2015 Eclipse Award for Champion Grass Mare. 
In 2016, Tepin added four more graded stakes wins to her résumé, highlighted by the G1 Jenny Wiley at Keeneland. She then traveled to England for the G1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, where she faced her toughest challenge yet. Overcoming the odds, Tepin became the first—and remains the only—non-European to win the race. She is also just one of two mares to have won the race in the past 25 years. Her final career start was a fast-closing second-place finish in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile as she attempted to defend her title.
Tepin was purchased by Coolmore for $8,000,000, setting the record for the highest-priced broodmare prospect sold in North America. She went on to produce G1 winner Grateful (Galileo) and GSW Delacroix (Dubawi). In recognition of her incredible achievements, Tepin was inducted into the North American Racing Hall of Fame in 2022. She was owned by Robert Masterson and ridden by Julien Leparoux. She passed away in 2023, and she is deeply missed.
